While discussing a new statue presented to the city by the Portland Sea Dog’s owner (Maine, not Oregon), after some truly spot-on hilariousness, someone posted a link to this statue. It’s in a sculpture park in Oslo, Norway — the poster called it “Get these goddamn babies OFFA me!”

This reminded me of a story: when I was little, my mom put me in daycare for a year or so. I was a smidge older than the other kids, already reading and doing my own thing. But the little kids would hang all over me, and piss me off. So at the end of the day when Mom picked me up, I would be supremely annoyed. One day, she asked what was wrong, and I was so irritated I couldn’t even spit out the words until, at last, I sobbed: “Those. Darn. Babies!”
